Sporty Teachers!

At Think this month we are focusing on the PYP learner profile of being a Risk-taker. I thought it would be interesting to ask the teachers at Think about something that they had achieved that was linked to sport where they really took a risk or felt like they had achieved something special.

Ms Choy - "I used to play Badminton every week when Castor and his sister were little. They always came along to watch and take part".

Mr Meehan - "At my Primary school in 1995 I was part of the team that won the County title in Gaelic football".

Ms Lehman - "I completed my first half marathon in November which made me very proud. When I was at school and aged 10 I rode a bicycle all the way across the state of Iowa with my father. It was 800 kilometres!".

Mr Declan - "I once played in a professional snooker tournament in Rotterdam".

Ms Leanne - "I have a passion for skipping and once took part in a 24 hour skipathon. Even now I sometimes get the urge to skip and after school there is nothing I enjoy more than skipping around Hong Kong".

Ms Crystal - "I won the 400 metre race three times while at Secondary school. I was always the shortest girl in the races, but very fast!"

Mr Burns - "I was 5th in the Multi-events decathlon championship (for the whole of England!) when I was 20 years old".

Mrs Stock - "I competed in the inter-state 200 metre sprint when I was at Secondary school.

Mr Ian - "My favourite athletic memory is when I was made Captain of my school football team".

Mr Wayne - "I used to play tennis and squash all the time when I was growing up. There was a club along the road so I played my sister a lot. I was brilliant at racquet sports".

Ms Kelly - "I was chosen to represent the whole of the North of England in Tennis".

Ms Elvina - "At secondary school and at University I really enjoyed taking part in Chinese dancing competitions".

Ms Peacock - "I have tried climbing Mount Kilimanjaro three times but have never reached the summit - yet!"

Ms Purti - "When completing my Duke of Edinburgh award I had to walk a really long way".

Ms Melanie - "I completed the Hong Kong half marathon last year. I was also really proud to win the Parent and Teacher race at Sports day (although Ms Kelly is still arguably the fastest member of staff!)".

Ms Winnie - "I can really remember the first time that I swam 100 metres. It felt like a great achievement".

Ms Amy - "My favourite activity is dancing. It makes me feel excited and happy. I dance at least once a week".

Ms Carrie - "I have climbed over 12 metres high when rock climbing!".

I certainly didn't realise that the teachers at Think were so sporty! So over the Easter holidays make sure you set yourself a goal and STAY ACTIVE!

Thank you teachers and have a wonderful Easter holiday everybody.

Capital Letters and Full Stops

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This week we have been improving our use of capital letters and full stops when writing. Some of the homework your child has been given on Education City is relating to this.

Below are links to some interactive games from the BBC website which you may also want to try with your child.

Regards,
Mr. Richardson

Maths - Pictograms

This week we are looking at answering questions by recording information in lists and tables. We have been presenting our findings by using practical resources, pictures, block graphs and pictograms. Please help your child to create their own pictogram using the program below.
